Selection diary
The restaurant diary
This is where we keep what Selection lives by. It is more than a restaurant by the water — it is a place where any evening can become a story. Big names on the stage, music every weekend, fashion shows, weddings and birthdays you trust us with. Turn the pages: this is our chronicle on Słodowa Island — the concerts, the nights and the faces that have passed through.
The beginning
How it began
The lights of Selection came on inside an old mill on Słodowa Island. We restored the historic walls, filled the room with living greenery — a real jungle under the roof — and set tables out on a terrace right by the water, looking onto the river. That is how Wrocław gained a lounge where premium shisha across hundreds of flavours, a borderless kitchen and the feel of a big night come together as one. From day one we meant Selection to be not “another restaurant” but a place that is an event in itself: somewhere to dine, to hear live music and to stay until late.
Selection’s birthday
Our birthday night
Selection marked its birthday the only way Selection knows how — with a big concert. Polish stars took our stage: Malik Montana, one of the country’s loudest rappers, and Skolim, whose hits draw hundreds of millions of plays. Rap, beats and a packed room; confetti in the air, shisha smoke and a dance floor until morning. It was the night that set the bar for everything after — and showed what a celebration under our roof can be.
Birthday headliner
Malik Montana
One of Poland’s loudest rap names. Trap and hip-hop, a gold album (Tijara) and a platinum one (Import/Export), and millions of monthly listeners — with Wrocław among the cities where he’s streamed most. At Selection’s birthday he performed live to a packed room.
Birthday headliner
Skolim
A star of Polish disco polo and dance-pop. His hit “Wyglądasz idealnie” has gathered over 250 million views on YouTube, and he draws millions of monthly listeners. On our stage he performed live with his band.
Concert nights
Ukrainian artists on our stage
Selection has become a real concert venue more than once. Ukrainian artists have taken our stage — from sharp rap to big pop, from experimental sound to songs the whole room knows by heart. Live sound, lights, haze and a crowd that sings along with the artist — each of these nights became an event for the city. Here are just some of those who have played here.
They played here
Concert night
Kyivstoner
A Ukrainian rapper whose real name is Albert Vasyliev. He first found an audience through comedic YouTube sketches in which he played every part himself — and then came the music. In 2016–2017 he was a member of the group Hryby, then went solo with the albums “Khaypaholik,” “Khaypaholik 2” (2017) and “Banger” (2018). His collaborations include a track with alyona alyona and “ICE” with the U.S. rapper Juicy J, and he has acted on screen in the film “Major Grom: Plague Doctor.” On our stage: sharp, rhythmic hip-hop and a room that raps every line.
Concert night
Kavabanga Depo Kolibri
A Ukrainian hip-hop trio from Kharkiv, formed in 2012; on stage they are kavabanga, Depo and kolibri. Their sound lives where rap, melodic hip-hop and pop meet, sung in both Russian and Ukrainian — about the city, the night and feeling. The group has weathered change: kolibri left in 2019 and rejoined in 2021. Today their tracks draw millions of listeners and their concerts fill rooms across Europe — a 2023 tour brought them to Wrocław. Their evening with us is melodic, atmospheric hip-hop with a mood.
Concert night
Skylerr
A Ukrainian pop singer performing in Ukrainian. Her music is emotive and melodic, carried by a strong, warm voice. Skylerr was a finalist of Ukraine’s national Eurovision selection (Vidbir 2024) with the song “Time Is Running Out.” On our stage: big pop vocals, lights and an evening that sounds like a real concert.
Concert night
Julik
A Ukrainian singer, music producer and DJ; his real name is Nazariy Huk, and he comes from Lviv. From 2012 to 2017 he was the keyboardist and backing vocalist of the popular band DZIDZIO, then launched his solo project as Julik. His sound is melodic Ukrainian pop with a dance, house-tinged feel. On our stage: light, warm dance music for a big night.
Concert night
Sasha Tab
A Ukrainian vocalist and MC known from the line-up of Kalush Orchestra — the winners of Eurovision 2022 with “Stefania”; his real name is Oleksandr Slobodianyk. His sound is reggae-tinged hip-hop with funk and electronics, and for his solo project he released the track “Zliva.” On our stage: an energetic, rhythmic set from a Eurovision-level act.
Concert night
Oleg Kenzov
A Ukrainian pop performer, showman and TV host. He first made his name as a contestant on the second season of “X-Factor,” and went on to danceable hits and a high-energy stage show — his video for “Po kaifu” gathered tens of millions of views. On our stage: upbeat pop, lights and a crowd that dances till morning.
The week’s rhythm
Quiet days, loud Friday and Saturday
From Monday to Thursday and on Sunday, Selection is a calm restaurant by the water: an unhurried dinner, shisha across hundreds of flavours, signature cocktails and a river view. Then on Friday and Saturday the rhythm kicks in: DJs at the decks — beats, lights and a dance floor deep into the night. Come for the quiet on calm evenings or for the loud nights on Friday and Saturday — we have both.
More than music
Nights to remember
Selection is not only about music. A fashion show has taken place under our roof, the Grand Opening roared, weddings have been run end to end and birthdays have filled the night. For the big occasions we have it all: banquets for up to 180 guests, a private VIP room for twelve with karaoke and a PlayStation, a separate second-floor lounge, our own kitchen and shisha. Tell us what you want to celebrate — and we’ll design the evening.
Fashion at Selection
A runway under our roof
Selection can be a runway, too. Beneath the vaults of the old mill, among brick walls and the living greenery of Słodowa Island, a fashion show took place — a catwalk of bold evening looks, with lights and a full house. Another evening that became a real event.
